PETE BROWN POET, WRITER AND CO-AUTHOR OF CREAM’S   MOST FAMOUS SONGS TALKS TO LIVE BLUES INFO – ON VIDEO NOW!

Pete Brown

Pete Brown was the co-author Cream’s greatest hits – ‘I Feel Free’, ‘Sunshine of Your Love’, ‘White Room’ and others. He collaborated with Jack Bruce on these and on Bruce’s later solo albums including the classic ‘Songs for a Tailor’ and several others. Pete was also involved with another British R&B great Graham Bond and his own musical ventures include Piblokto and Pete Brown’s Battered Ornaments. Brown’s recently published book ‘White Rooms and Imaginary Westerns’ is a colourful account of a life lived in the maelstrom of rock ‘n roll – he recounts the ups and the downs and lays down some wildly funny stories along the way. A recent new album ‘Road of Cobras’ with his long time musical partner Phil Ryan has been well received. Pete’s interview gives an informed insight into the reality of the music business.  Halfway through the interview Phil joined us and added his unique slant on things.

Elsewhere on this site you can read a review of Pete’s book ‘White Rooms and Imaginary Westerns’ – its very good. In the review we lament the lack of examples of Pete’s poetry, so he very kindly sent us a couple of poems – here they are

FEW

Alone tired half drunk hopeful

I staggered into the bogs

at Green Park station

and found 30 written on the wall

Appalled I lurched out

into the windy blaring neon Piccadilly night

thinking surely,

Surely there must be more of us than that…

SACRIFICE

Praise be to Christ this mackerel

He died that we might live
